The story, captured in an inspiring documentary film Living with Tigers by naturalist John Varty,The story begins with John deciding to give the rapidly vanishing Bengal Tigers a second chance at life by creating a wild life sanctuary in the midst of Africa.

Not many thought it was possible to rehabilitate Bengal Tigers in Africa would be possible, mainly because the tigers are adapted to hunting in the forest areas that offer them ample cover to ambush prey, while in Africa the nature of hunts are usually wild chases!

John partnered with 24 year old Canadian naturalist, who also trained big cats – lions & tigers for Hollywood. Dave Salmoni also handled big cats in Canadian Bowmanville Zoo. The two set on a 3 year journey to rehabilitate 7 month old tigers Ron & Julie in the jungles of South Africa.

Alan Rabinowitz, of the National Geographic Documentary – In Search of the Jaguar has been doing exactly that for over 40 years now. He has been an inspiration to live & live better to millions of people as well as to the magnificent Jaguars!

Born in New York, Alan’s childhood was not something you would envy. He had a serious stuttering problem that kept him mainly to himself, without many friends.

Growing up alone, all Alan Rabinowitz had were his pets to talk to! And that love for animals stayed with him. So when he was called in to study the life & behavior of the Jaguars in the Latin American crown, he jumped in with all his might.

Over the years he has influenced numerous lives in a positive way. His personal example of struggle, fighting for the cause of giving the Jaguars a land of their own & creating new volunteers to take the baton forward.

A few years back, Alan was diagnosed with Leukemia. Though there is no certain cure for this cancer, Alan is fighting on for life life with the same zeal he took to conservation 40 years back.
